Sport and Spine have had a close association with the Dance community in Newcastle for over 25 years. Newcastle and The Hunter have a strong tradition for developing world class dancers over all forms of dance. We have been fortunate to work closely with dance specialists in Sydney, particularly with those at North Sydney Sports Medicine Centre over this period of time.
Dance medicine is a specialty area in sports medicine and requires a specialised approach by experienced clinicians and surgeons when injuries occur. Emma Bramble and John Siede have worked closely with dancers of all ages over many years, and are supported by a network of dance specialists.
They can provide many essential services to dancers, ranging from the diagnosis and management of injuries to screening and advice on injury prevention and rehabilitation. During intense periods of preparation for assessments and performances these services are vital to ensure that young dancers are able to achieve their goals.
